If you want to find breathtaking views of Split, climb up to the top of Marjan hill. Hiking up to the top of this hill will let you see the harbour, surrounding greenery and the glittering sea. It will take about two hours to reach the top, if you walk at a fairly leisurely pace. On the way down treat yourself to coffee in one of the quaint cafes found on the slope of the hill.
Most of the beaches in Split can be found at the centre of the city, and are all very scenic. The beaches around here are mostly pebbley but this central beach is sandy. Only 250 metres from the city’s harbour, it’s not hard to find this lovely beach. Come here if you’re on cheap holiday deals with the whole family, as the calm, clean and shallow waters make it perfect for a family day out. After coming to the beach, head to the Bacvice complex, which is situated just behind the bay. During the day you can enjoy relaxing in one of the cafes, whilst watching the kids enjoy the children’s play area.
For those that want to find out more about the history of the city, visit Diocletian’s Palace – the oldest building in Split. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruins of this Roman Palace, date back to the 3rd century AD. Meander around the courtyard and admire the beautiful building, which has been very well preserved.
